Spread some Holiday Cheer.

Once upon a time in a town like this,

A little girl made a great big wish

To fill the world full of happiness

And be on Santa’s magic list

Remember the old man on my Paying it Forward Blog post? Today I decided to pay him a visit and give him some early Christmas presents. He told me he missed eating roasted pig. But unfortunately since today was a Sunday, shops were closed so I bought him roasted chicken instead. And some groceries too for the days to come. I had a bad feeling Mom’s not going to approve of this since we barely have enough for our day to day living but I did it anyways. Besides, isn’t this what Christmas is for? To share and spread some good cheer? The feeling of helping others in your own little way is indeed priceless. I’m happy serving others even if there’s nothing in return.

As I’ve said before, I’m grateful that I have a job whereas others don’t even have food or a home or even a family to begin with. Helping others shouldn’t just be during this time alone because we have 365 days to lend a hand to the needy. Our life here on earth is not judged based on our achievements, belongings and other material success, but on how much we show love to the people who needs it the most.

I’m happy that our creator has used me as an instrument of compassion and generosity. I felt really attached to this poor old man all because I grew up with my grandparents and losing them is something I couldn’t handle. This is probably the reason I want to help him in ways possible.

Everywhere I look, there is suffering. And each time I see a person reaching out his hand for help, I die a little inside whenever I can’t do something. I believe that no one becomes poor by giving. We may think that it’s their own fault they ended up that way, but really, nobody wants to be poor. People become poor because they were deprived of opportunities rich people have.

We can’t help everyone. But everyone can help someone.

There is no wrong way when it comes to deeds of kindness because small acts alone, can change the world. Seeing his face light up when he saw me again was enough of a Christmas gift for me. Now there’s one less lonely person in the world on Christmas Day. :)

Merry Christmas Everybody! Don’t forget to spread some holiday cheer! :)

xoxo
