One of my goals for 2013 is to try out new things. I’ve never made an art journal before much less anything that has to do with art (that explains my melted crayon art tutorial. hahaha!) ^_^
Art Journals are pretty much everywhere and they are not for artists only. They are for everyone with no special skills required. You don’t even have to know how to draw a stick figure. It’s like a Pinterest board, tumblr and your diary rolled into one creative art form. Every art journal is unique to the “artist” because it’s your own style, emotions and thoughts that’s flowing into those pages. It’s also a nice spin to “scrap booking”. There are a lot of tutorials out there when it comes to the basics of Art Journaling but I think all you need to do is let your imagination fly and come back with all sorts of inspiration like your dreams, goals, etc. Plus there’s no pressure for non-artists.
From doodles, sketches, lyrics, quotes, collages, pictures, paintings, etc. the options are limitless since you are relying on your own creative thinking and imagination. I personally love this because it’s a form of relaxation and stress reliever. You don’t have to finish the whole thing in one sitting because with every page comes time and dedication. I decided to start making one using some materials I already have. ^_^

Here are the first two pages I did earlier

It’s really fun and addicting! You guys should definitely try making one today and feel free to share your thoughts!

I love this. I’ve been doing the crayon art for a while now, I’ve experimented in different way and I’ve played with ideas. Art journalling is something I want to try but you’re right it can be intimidating. I have a fabulous Pinterest board for it here: http://www.pinterest.com/curlyhtj it’s under art.
Miss you, Steph!
